I'll help you see 10 important factors to feel that positive feeling of preparing and being on a trip for the sake of training, and that you also feel a sense of well-being back home.
I live everyday in southern Bohuslän, but spend many weekends in northern Bohuslän every year. This means that I spent many hours in the forests and on the rocks, where I exercise. So, of course I have this perspective in my mind when I write. But, regardless of where you choose to travel on your fitness journey, these simple motivational tips apply.
Here we go.
1. Preparations
Train at home before your training trip and reduce the risk of injury. It is important that you are in good shape before you go on a training trip, in order to enjoy the activities and not risk injury. Exercise regularly in the weeks before departure, and adapt the exercise to the sport you will be doing on the trip. For example, if you are going skiing, focus on leg strength and balance. If you are going to hike, train your fitness and endurance.
2. Booking the trip
Find the right tour operator for you, within your sport. There are many travel companies that offer training trips, but not all are suitable for everyone. Do some research before you book, and compare different options. Think about what you want out of the trip, what level you want to train at, what type of accommodation you prefer, and what other activities or excursions you want to do. Read reviews from previous travelers, and contact the tour operator if you have any questions.
3. Equipment for the training trip
Buy and test the equipment beforehand, so nothing unexpected happens. It's always good to bring your own equipment with you on a training trip, to make sure it fits you and works as it should. If you need to buy new equipment, do so well before the trip, so you have time to test it properly at home. It can be very frustrating to discover that something doesn't work when you're there, or that something breaks in the middle of an activity. For example, walk in or jog in your new shoes before the trip, so you don't get chafing, or that they don't fit on the foot as intended.
4. Read up on the destination
Which climate is it, rain or sun? This is so that the right clothes are packed. It is also important to know what to expect from the destination you are going to, both in terms of climate and culture. Check what the weather is usually like during the period you are going to travel, so that you pack the right clothes and protection for the sun or rain. Also read up on the country's culture, laws and customs, so you don't accidentally do something inappropriate or impolite.

5. Plan your training
Vary intensity and recovery.
When you're on a training trip, of course you want to make the most of your time, but it's also important not to overexert yourself or forget about recovery. Plan your training in advance, and vary the intensity and type of training during the week. Listen to your body, and take it easy if you feel tired or sore. Also treat yourself to a few days of lighter activities or rest, so you don't burn out.
6. Enjoy the food
Try local cuisine and stay hydrated. Food is a big part of the experience when you travel, and it's fun to try new flavors and dishes from the country you visit. Food is also fuel for your training, so make sure to eat properly and balanced during the trip. Choose food that gives you energy and nutrition, but also treat yourself to something good sometimes. Also, drink plenty of water, especially if it's hot or dry where you are.
7. Socialize with others
Meet new people and have fun. Another advantage of going on a training trip is that you get to meet others who share your interest in sports and travel. It can be fun and inspiring to get to know new people, and maybe find new friends or training buddies. Be open and friendly, and participate in the joint activities or dinners arranged by the tour operator. Have fun and laugh a lot, it's good for both body and soul.

Take time to explore the surroundings, and see what there is to do and see where you are. It can be anything from historical sights, to beautiful landscapes, to exciting animals or plants. Use your senses, and enjoy all the impressions.

Take lots of pictures, both of your training and of what you see and do on the trip. Also write a diary, where you reflect on your experiences, feelings and thoughts during the trip. It can help you process and appreciate what you have been through.
10. Appreciate your trip
Be grateful and proud of yourself. Finally, don't forget to appreciate your trip, and be grateful for all you've experienced and learned. Also, be proud of yourself, for taking on the challenge of going on a training trip, and for all that you have achieved and developed during the week.
