Bohuslän lies along Sweden's west coast. The area is from Gothenburg and up to Strömstad, north-south direction. Between Gothenburg and Strömstad, it is 17 miles and takes about 1 hour 50 minutes when traveling with a car, which is based on the fact that you are traveling on the E6. During this journey, however, you pass a string of wonderful destinations. Some destinations are smaller with a genuine and historical character. But, there are also destinations or resorts that are smaller cities where you will find both a big city feel with all the services and tourist experiences you can imagine. Even Sweden's second largest city, Gothenburg, is considered to be in Bohuslän.

When you visit Bohuslän, you are always close to the sea (Skagerrak). In the north-south direction, the E6 is like a traffic artery, which means that you can transport yourself quickly between your favorite places. Between the E6 and the sea in the west, you have many opportunities to turn off towards wonderful places that offer experiences of various kinds.

Although the E6 is great for getting around, it is recommended to use the wide network of smaller roads in Bohuslän. By choosing the smaller roads, you pass small fishing villages, pleasant tourist activities, historical places and lots of beautiful views. TRAVEL BY BUS IN BOHUSLÄN

If you want to travel along Bohuslän's coast by bus, you have many options to choose from. You can go with fast express buses that run the longer distances, or with local buses that stop at more places. If you want to travel to or from Bohuslän by bus, there are also several regional bus companies that drive there, for example Bus4you, Flixbus and Flygbussarna.

STRAIGHT TRACK TO BOHUSLÄN BY TRAIN

If you wish to travel by train in Bohuslän, that is also possible. Of course, there are trains from most places in Sweden to Gothenburg. But, there are also train tracks from central Gothenburg all the way up to Strömstad. The journey in between takes around 2.5-3 hours and costs just over one hundred Norwegian kroner. It may be the case that some departures take place by bus as means of transport, but otherwise it is generally the train that applies. The train tracks go a bit inland, so you need to coordinate your trip with a local bus to get all the way to the Bohuslänska islands. You solve that with Västtrafik's bus system. See above.

Landvetter airport

Landvetter Airport is the main airport for getting to Bohuslän by air. In the main, this happens by traveling to Gothenburg, and then choosing another means of transport there if you wish to travel north to Bohuslän. Swedavia manages Landvetter Airport. Trollhättan Vänersborg Airport

Trollhättan Vänersborg Airport has not been operational for some time. But, from March 2022, the business will start again. It is a group of local people who managed to put this together. What would Bohuslän be without its ships, ships and boats? The west coast is characterized by the sea and all the traffic that has gone on the sea in all ages. There are countless harbors for both large and small boats along the entire coast.

When you visit Bohuslän, it is a good idea to come by sea, i.e. by boat in some form. You can come both from neighboring countries such as Denmark, Norway and Poland. But, you can also travel on local ferries which can be modern and comfortable to travel on, or you can board one of the over a century old ships that still ply along the coast.

Local vessels in the Gothenburg area

Locally, there are ferries that you can travel with in the area around Gothenburg. Styrsöbolaget are the ones who operate the ships, but it is possible to use Västtrafik's tickets on most departures. Styrsöbolaget's timetables can be found here. By hopping on board one of these ferries, you will arrive at either Gothenburg's southern or northern archipelago. Examples include Styrsö, Brännö, Hönö, Öckerö, Fotö or Björkö.

• The Sanefjord ferry operated by Color line, there are 4 departures per day. It runs between Sandefjord and Moss in Norway, which is an easy way to Bohuslän if you are in southern Norway, with your car.
