Heestrand beach walk

Heestrand

Heestrand is a small place between Hamburgsund and Bovallstrand. The small community has a history of quarrying which can be seen in nature where remnants of quarried stone are found. Heestrand is also a by-passage, for boats, which is protected. Which means that many leisure boats choose this route on their journey between north and south.

We have hiked the approximately 5 km trail a few times. Most suitable parking is on Good Lars Väg (press the link to find the position), from there you can then walk down to the sea and out onto the hiking trail. You follow the path south along the water. After about 15-20 minutes of hiking, you will come to a cluster of boathouses and docks. Here you can stop and have a coffee, or take a break on a bench.

Then you walk in between the houses and then come out on the road that runs through the whole of Heestrand. It is a minor road so it is not busy. Now go north out. A little way down the road you can see a house, on the right, which is built entirely of stone. It is fascinating to see how artisanally it is made. Then go ahead and turn off the same way you did when you came with the car. A little further along the road you pass Gotte Lars' cabin, on Gotte Lars väg. It is an old house, which a family used to live in. There is a sign to read about the history around this.

The tour takes about 1-1.5 hours with some short stops. A bit hilly at times, but no major height differences.

See the map for where to park. But we suggest parking at Good Lars way.
