Hönö for a day

Hönö is one of the larger islands in Gothenburg's Northern Archipelago. We have visited Hönö both by road including a ferry. But also by sailboat, as well as by passenger ship as a day trip.
Hönö is a small, pleasant community that has a safe harbor basin for the boats that arrive. There are restaurants and shops, so it is easy to spend a day there.
The best experience we've had at Hönö is when we packed a big sack of food and coffee. Hiked out on the rocks and sunbathed for a few hours. It's easy to get out onto the rocks quickly and finding parking was easy.
From Gothenburg city center it takes approx. 30 minutes by car + 10 minutes by ferry.
Öckerö
Öckerö is just north of Hönö. It is also a big island that has nice places. To read more about Gothenburg's islands, read our pages about The archipelago of Gothenburg.
