Cycle tour to Strysö, Skäret
Why travel away from a place, where so many people choose to travel to the same place on their vacation. Then it should be something that is also interesting for us, we thought. So we have chosen to locate at least one of our vacation weeks, every year, in the Gothenburg region. To then be a tourist in our own city.
On this day we each packed a day trip backpack and got on the bikes. We had decided to visit one of the southern islands in the Gothenburg archipelago. When you have chosen to visit the southern archipelago, it is Saltholmen that applies. Because that is where most of the municipality's ferries depart from. The choice fell on Styrsö on this day.
Styrsö
Styrsö. It's an island that doesn't have cars. You can roughly divide the island into a southern part and a northern part, through which you can land on the island
There are pleasant streets to glide along, among the various house types that exist. Then you just have to stop where you want, to enjoy the view or something.
Restaurant Skäret
We landed after a while at Resturang Skäret. There we ordered a good shrimp sandwich, which was served with a Styrsö beer too, of course. After all, we had cycled all the way from central Gothenburg all the way out to Saltholmen, and then took the ferry there. So we deserved a good lunch with drinks.
We also stopped at a few places to take a break and take in the nature, the sea and the sun that appeared that day.
Successful excursion at a small cost.
We got an excursion that lasted a full day, with sun, experiences and some exercise.
The cost of our excursion stopped at a small cost consisting of a Västtrafik ferry ticket for SEK 35 one way. The rest was actually free of charge if you wanted it. But, we chose to spend a lunch, because we wanted to, but it is also possible to bring your own coffee, which we often do on our other tours we do.
What you have to keep in mind is that the ferries can get full and then you may have to wait a bit, because they don't take bikes on the ferry if there are too many people. Read more about our tips on traveling in Bohuslän.
